I decided to go with the ol’ ‘fuck it’ approach and started writing

A princess trapped in a tower, desperate to get away from her mother?

That feels like it’s been done before.

I slogged my way through a first draft of a fantasy book that was similar to The Selection but with darker vibes.

Originally, Morena was a princess of Death who was going to be forced into marriage with many suitors vying for her hand. And I ended up falling in love with FOUR of the love interests and being unable to choose—I’m sure you’ll recognize them:

  • A Lord of the Fae who had a habit of stealing

  • A Dark Prince who was capable of shifting and mind manipulation

  • A kind-hearted hero who wants the world to be just and good

  • Her guard, a man of many secrets and divided loyalties

Things Changed Forever When…

I found an editor in December 2022 who believed in the potential of the story and who provided critical, negative feedback about every single chapter, about the plot, about the characters, and really forced me to think about the story I wanted to tell.

I’m not much for social medial; I’m probably too much of an introvert to interact with thousands of strangers.
